Newbury Racecourse - The Weatherbys Super Sprint

Objective
To raise the profile of The Weatherbys Super Sprint held at Newbury Racecourse in July as a key race for juvenille racehorses as well as highlight its unique stature  as a sales races and its value in terms of the significant amount of prize money on offer.  To increase the level of pre event coverage of the race in the industry and national press pages, ultimately aiming to increase the appeal of the race to a racing and consumer audience.

Strategy
We identified the success of trainer Richard Hannon's previous success in the race, that he had in fact won the race an impressive seven times.    A press morning was organsied and Richard Hannon's yard, near Marlborough on the Monday before the fixture coinciding with the with race's confirmation stage.  Key members of the racing press were invited to attend and provided with the opportunity to view Richard Hannon strong on thegallops, including intended Super Sprint runners  as well as a interview with Richard Hannon Snr, who is currently leading the British Trainers ranks.

A photo call was also organised during the morning, picturing a line up of his eight intended runners in the race along with their work riders and Richard Hannon Snr and Jnr. Following the press morning, a press release was circulated along with images to an extensive media contact list.
